May 29th saw the debut of a new hydroplane on the circuit. The U-50 Spirit of the Navy was christened in Stan Sayres pits. Following the christening, there was a test session where the U-50 and U-48 both ran a total of three times. True to Seattle weather, the instant the test session ended, the sun came out.
